I think it is called "The scarlet Ibis". it is about a boy and his handicapped brother, very poignant. "The lady or the tiger" is a cool one though I wouldn't call it beautiful.

L.M. Montgomery has written many short stories. Some of hers are absolutely beautiful short love stories. I can't name them now - I read them a long time ago. But check out her short story books.

The most beautiful love story I have ever read is about Jesus and His death for us. The second, is the story of Joseph (in the Bible), and his great love and forgiveness for his brothers who sold him.

I haven't read a lot of short love stories, but I do remember one that always significantly stood out to mein the 8th grade. It was called "Oranges", but I don't remember who it was by. Some guy wrote it, if that helps.

Depends on your definition of "short". But my personal favorite is "The Notebook", by Nicolas Sparks. Yes, I read the actual book, not just seen the movie. The movie is good but as usual the book was better.
