For example. A petty thief would get a severe case of hayfever all year round.

A mugger would get a really bad toothache for three years.

I would render fraudsters and con artists illiterate and mute for two years.

A murderer would be unable to commit violence due to the fact that he/she would want to violently throw up whenever they even thought about it.

Would it be a greater deterent to commit crime than being banged up for a while?

your thoughts please.

A petty thief would start giving everything they owned to the needy.
A mugger would work for 10 years in a help the aged community.
A murderer would have to work helping the disabled for the rest of thier lives.
A white collar fraudster who took 20 million from peoplewould work fundraising for charities for 20 years.
Unfortunatelt this would be less of a deterent than locking people in cells. If you got away with your crime that would be fine, if you got caught oh well I have to spend many years doing something I dont want to but I'm not in jail and may get a chance to do something else.
It wouldnt work at all.

If you think the prison system is expensive, your theory would be way more costly, complicated and confusing...... But figuratively speaking, it sounds like you want a theory of what would happen if we had no prisons. Well, in the days of the bible, it was an eye for and eye. You kill and be killed. You steal and ve stolen from. Rape and be raped. Of course we have too much going on in the world nowadays to keep up with each punishment (as if babysitting the world) This is why we need to prison system - or at least the ONE general BLANKET OF PROTECTION we get from having one......... So my theory would be to figure out another form or a "Prison/Punishment system" that could accomidate criminals.................. My idea is that they should be sentenced to a far away island to live on their own as those other idiots who go on that show "Survivor".......... The extent of the punishment would be the actual punishment. Think it's mean to put theives in with murders? Well, we already do it in our prison system. Perhaps removing the "Theoretical Bars" on the "Island" would make it an even GREATER deturant or at least substantically reduce the recidivism rate..............

Hope you liked my Theory.

You make light of a serious matter. The laws are too light for the crimes that are committed and the violators get the rights and the victims pay the price over and over again. The death penalty should be automatic in cases related to child abuse, molestation, rape, and of course murder. Burglaries should be an automatic 10 year sentence without parole or probation. Rape of adults should be an automatic life sentence without parole or probation. Theft should be an automatic 5 years without parole or probation. Illegal drugs involvement should be an automatic 20 year sentence without parole or probation. The criminals of this country are very fortunate that I do not write the laws!

3 crimes in 3 years and you get thrown into battle royale*. Larger crimes like murder etc either death directly or into the battle.

*for those who don't know - battle royale takes place on an island, where everyone is wired to explosive necklaces. The aim of the game is to be last man/woman standing. The winner gets pardoned for that particular crime or set of crimes. However, if they sin again, they go back in.

They would have to work for the state and city government system until they paid their debt to society. Meaning, they would be taught a trade so they could support themselves instead of being repeat offenders. Example:They would work doing all the state and city building and road construction. It would save the taxpayers money having them work instead of sitting in jail doing nothing. We are spending millions of dollars keeping petty criminals in prisons instead of rehabilitating them so they can become members of society. There would a government program to require them to further their education or learn a trade in order to stay out of prison.

murder = hanging
lesser crimes = the birch
petty crimes = public humiliation ( such as the stocks)
There wouldn't be any need of prisons then, what a saving to the tax payer
