I have heard that nothing makes you more fertile than a recent birth. DO NOT believe that breastfeeding is an effective birth control, it does however limit your periods to perhaps none at all. But my doctor said that just because you are not having a period does not mean you cannot get pregnant you can still ovulate. There is a woman on here that got pregnant after just two months after giving birth. Having a baby too soon after a previous birth is not only hard on you, since you are not fully recovered but it is also hard on the 2nd baby because you cannot provide adequate nutrients as they were recently depleted.
They make a mini pill that you can take while breastfeeding

I think what they actually do at your 6 week check up after you have the baby is a pregnancy test. You are EXTREMELY fertile right after you have a kid that's why you see so many kids so close in age! Or, the parents planned it like that.. But like the other person said just be careful because imagine taking care of 2 kids in diapers!! You would definitely have your hands full... And breastfeeding is not a method of birth control.. You can also get pregnant right after you have a miscarriage.

Very easy as this is an extremely fertile time, and no breastfeeding does not exempt you from this. Breastfeeding may only delay the arrival of your period, but it does not make you less fertile. I would wait if I were you, just image 2 kids in diapers! Both under a year old!

it does take a while for your body to get back to normal- especially if you are breastfeeding. if you are then the hormones from that will stop you from having regular if any periods- so you were not dropping eggs. on the other hand, there are stories about women getting pregnant one right after the other- it is possible. it just depends on your hormone levels- which you would have to have checked out. of course if you are gonna do all that work, might as well just have them check if you are ovulating yet, or pregnant yet.

Well you can not get pregnant in the 2-4 days after delivery but yes you can get pregnant at the 4 week time frame. Your body is starting to have its cycle and you have sex with out protection and at the wrong time you will be pregnant again.
P.S "And also you shouldn't have sex till after 6 weeks anyway". gives the body time to heal

whoever told you that is mistaken. It is very easy to get pregnant that soon after giving birth, I don't know about the breastfeeding thing, I was and got pregnant 8 weeks after, so I guess that didn't work for me.

Often times women who have just had children don't get pregnant if they are breastfeeding but this is NOT foolproof. You are supposed to be extremely fertile after you give birth and I would take precautions if you are trying not to concieve.

If you're breastfeeding, you probably won't ovulate for about a year. If you're not breastfeeding, it's possible to get your period within the first month after childbirth, so be careful!

your chances of getting pregnant are extremly high. Plus your body needs to recooperate and that is why most doctors say not to have sex until they see you again in 6 weeks.
