what you might want to do is to use an eye cream for the dark circles, and cold compresses for the puffiness...or if you want to simplify, you can put the eye cream in the fridge and it'll do both jobs

Sounds like the other Answerers have some very good advice (though I'm not sure the toothpick method isn't going to leave you with worse problems than just tired eyes! :-)
Anywho, I agree with what everyone else said, but I wanted to throw this in for good measure. Are you one of the lucky people of the world who is spending 8-10 hours a day staring at a computer screen? If so, at least once a half hour, look away from the computer for a few minutes. Stand up, walk around, look at things all around you and in the distance. Blink a lot (since we forget to blink when focusing on the computer screen). Rotate your eyes around, back and forth and up and down (yep, like exercises!). This will help alleviate tired eyes.
Good luck!

Try these simple solutions:
* To give relaxation to tired eyes, wash your eyes at frequent intervals with cold water. It will help in reducing inflammation.
* In 2-½ cup water, add a few drops of lavender oil and mix well. Take two cotton balls and dip in this solution. Squeeze out the extra water and place the cotton balls over the eyes.
* Take a fresh cucumber and cut into slices. Place the slices on the eyes for some time. It will give soothing effect.
* Take two cotton balls and soak them in warm tea. Place the cotton balls on the eyes for some time. When the cotton dries, dip it again in the tea.
Boil some tea in a little water and let it cool. Dip 2 gauzes in this brew and place the gauzes on each eye for 15 minutes. Make sure you keep dipping the cotton wads into the liquid, as soon as gauzes dry up. Effective treatment for tired eyes
For tired eyes, wash them with cold water, several times a day. This treatment reduces inflammation, moisturizers the skin /tissues, relaxes the eyes & provides relief from eyestrain & fatigue.
Lavender oil offers gentle relief for tired and strained eyes. Add a drop of lender oil to 500 ml (2 ½ cups) of water and shake the solution well. Dip two cotton wool pads in the liquid, squeeze out the excess water and place one pad over each eye.
Hope it helps...
