I'd rather have gay marriage because I am gay and I am married.

Give privileges (if by that you mean tax breaks, etc.) to every damned person in the U.S. For one thing, if I have a good friend and we're roommates for 15 years (I've actually had friends who have been roommates for that long and they are heterosexual with relationships until one got married), why can't I just file to have a civil union with her? Even if we're just poker-playing buddies, hell, we don't even have to be roommates!
If you want to pretend to be a man so your 'woman' can have a pretend groom, then the whole marriage thing will be your choice. If you just want the benefits, hey, give them to everybody who shares kitchen privileges - if you tell the government that your sex life is none of their business (hah! as if anyone could ever shut up about what they do in bed, puhleez!), then it is not the government's business that I'm NOT screwing my roommate - in fact, I'm living in a roommate situation instead with 6 bawling bratty babies from my 6 different shiftless boyfriends - give me my rights and privileges anyway and call that a civil union!

Ok here's my thing I think that we should all be created equal...hhmmm because we are.....no one person is better or worse than another. We all have our own opinions and we all have to deal with it later in life. Now my thing is if your gay and you want equal rights then stop trying to say people are discriminating against you. Example, when I was in high school there was a lesbian couple, now everyday after school when everybody was leaving they would stand where everybody could see them and make out...I don't have a problem with this but the fact that I can't make out with my boyfriend because I would have gotten a detention makes me mad. Because the principal couldn't do anything about it because they would have said they were discriminating against them. I think that is such bullsh*t. You want to be treated as an equal then deal with the same consequences, if I'm gunna get in trouble for making out at school so should you...isn't that being treated as an equal?

Nobody has the constitutional power to deny ANYBODY their rights to be safe, free from abuse or access to food shelter or care.
Rights are assumed by all citizens and are irrevokably always valid for every human regardless of sexual orientation.
Marriage is not a human right. Nobody ever died because they went through life as an unmarried individual. Nobody ever died because they were single.
Marriage, gay or otherwise, is an equality, legal and ethical issue, not a quality of life issue.
A piece of paper is a piece of paper. Emotional security and validation come from within. Nobody can take your 'love' away unless you GIVE it away, either conciously or subconciously.
Most marriages end in divorce anyway. I can't see how gay couples would fare any better.
I'm gay but same-sex marriage is such a non-issue for me. I have QUALITY GAY RELATIONSHIPS not POTENTIALLY DISASTEROUS GAY SOCIAL/LEGAL/ROMANTIC CONTRACTS.

Gay marriage should be legal. If you think about it do you realize how much money this country would save if it was? For example if gay people could legally marry than they'd be on each others health insurance policies which would safe hospitals alot of money. I could go on but I hope you get the point

Not in the sense of heterosexual marriage. Look at their divorce rate. It is unreal. I just want equal rights. I want the right to add my GF to my insurance and have the ability to make legal decisions for each other without someone intervening.

WHAT ON EARTH MAKES YOU THINK YOU PEOPLE ARE EQUAL? Nobody is EQUAL in this world!!! Black people are generally better at sports than white people, women are generally weaker than men, the list goes ON and ON and ON. It's NATURE!!! The lion eats the gazelle because the lion is stronger than the gazelle, they will never be equal! The trick is to find out how to make it exploiting what YOU are better at, personally, not by making sure you have the same size cookie everyone else does! NOBODY IS EVER EQUAL!!! If you want tax breaks and constitutional protection from testimony against your spouse, MARRY SOMEONE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX LIKE THE REST OF US!!! Don't expect the rules to change just because you don't like them. You don't like it? MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY. Go be Dutch.

i think the privileges should be the EXACT same for hetero and homo sexual marriages. the way i look at it is this. the love between the too is going to be the same. so why shouldnt everything else? their sex has nothing to do with how much they love each other...

I think gay and lesbian couples should create our own marital ceremonies and create traditions for ourselves just as heterosexual couples do. The only commonthread is that in the end, we're all legally recognized as married.
I'm a lesbian and I just married my wife in December.
