Just because you want to become a doctor doesn't qualify you to strive to become one. The school of medicine is very hard. Getting accepted to these schools is very tough. It means long hours, long years of study , dedication, sacrifice and expenses. If you really want to achieve this lifelong goal; you need a lot of hard work to see this career to fruition.

There are a lot of foreign doctors from other countries with long years of medical practice behind them. But when they come here, they can not practice medicine. The board exam required for licensure is very, very hard. It's just not a question of language barrier. it's also a question of intelligence.

Let's examine how long of an education is required. You have four years of pre-med. It could be a BS in Biology or Zoology or any of the natural sciences which is a real plus. Then you have
three years of intership. Then, another 2 years of specialty. It's very, very expensive. Scholarships are hard to get.

So be practical. Try to achieve some dreams that are attainable. It takes more than confience in believing in yourself. Of course , I believe that if there's a will, there's a way. Do you have the stamina? Do you have the desire to make this commitment in life? Do you have the resources? Do you have what it takes to become a doctor?

Ok.. I really don't want to burst your bubble, but if you're struggling in school the chances of you getting into uni for medicine are very slim. Either start working HARD right now and try ace everything you can, or just reconsider your future career path.. there are many jobs in medicine and health care that don't require as much work.. or try focus on other things your good at, there are so many jobs out there, and you probably have the skills to do a lot of them. A year ago I really wanted to become a doctor too. Now I want to do audio engineering..
You get the point?
If this really is your biggest ambition, start studying, start working hard and focus every part of your life into achieving it. If you're not willing to do that, then you shouldn't become a doctor.

Take a deep breath and try to relax your mind first. Anxiety will make your mind wind up too tight and scatter. If it's something you want really bad then keep trying. If you even get close to a medical degree there are sooooo many possiblities in life for you. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. I wanted to become an attorney and tried very hard to do so at one time but ended up getting into trucking and have done very, very well for myself and my family. What's meant to be will be. Don't be too hard on yourself. Give yourself a little respect. After all, you might be a doctor someday! If you think it, then you become it. See yourself as a doctor and nothing else. Then if it happens it was meant to be!

stop living in tomorrow and start living in today, make the best you can out of today, try your hardest, if it means sacrificing things to reach your dream, then so be it, if you feel like you are stupid eventually you will believe it, think positive!!! practice acceptance, set goals, another word for a goal is a dream with a deadline, acheive small yet reasonable goals and work up to your larger dream, the more you work on yourself and build that strength, courage and hope the more you will realize you can acheive your goal, and a shocking realization your dream might not happen but its not over if that happens, if you tried you have done the best that you could and no one should be disappointed in that. Relax, and stay focused anything is achievable if you put your mind to it!

Maybe you need to go into the field of Nursing and become a specialist. It is EXTREMELY tough to become a doctor.

Personally I was on that path as well until I started working in a reasearch lab while still a student and then found out how much of a sham the medical profession really was, so I switched over to my hobby - computers - and never looked back.

First things first.

Immediately go and speak with your High School Guidance Counselor. Make a schedule for self-improvement.

Also, inform your parents of visiting the High School Counselor, also seeking parents guidance and help.

Start the studies of needed subjects outlined by your High School Guidance Counselor.

As you start taking the necessary school courses for your future dream, your self-confidence also grows.

A big "for sure" you need for yourself -

Don't let peer pressure sway you from your course.

They are not going to be responsible if your dreams are crushed because of peer pressure.

Good Luck !!! with your dream, and keep your nose in those books !!

You may need some extra help, such as tutoring and discussion. If your desire is great enough, you can actually succeed by doing the hard, focused work. "Your reach should always exceed your grasp." You are not stupid. You just have to find the ways in which you learn best. And, you have to put in the effort. Make this your "Magnificent Obsession."

make friends with a doctor (the kind that you plan to become) and seek their advice. Ask about how their grades where, what did they do in order to study, etc. you might find out that it's not all it cracks up to be or you may find the best person to keep you motivated

Maybe you are not cut out to be a doctor. It requires 8 years of college, it's no cake-walk. you need to really consider your abilities.
