i have a 2 inch memory foam topper and i cant tell you how much it helped me with my arthritis. i am able to sleep for really long periods of time without waking up. before i would wake up when i moved due to the pain. i would not pay the price for a whole mattress of foam due to the cost. 2, 3, or 4 inches are plenty. i got mine at sams club.

My husband bought us a memory foam and I'll tell you this, it's helped my back and legs more then a million bottles of aspirin. I'd go for the memory foam. =)
