If porn is nothing to be ashamed of, then why do you hide it behind a misleading euphemism: "Adult entertainment"? Why don't you just call it what it is: PORNOGRAPHY? And since we already have porno video stores and magazines, why is internet porn necessary? Do kids as young as 8 really need to be exposed to pornography everyday? I think this is a violation of the right to be safe. It’s delusional to think a filter will solve this problem.

So you get your porn, but you have to call it exactly what it is- "pornography", and you can get every form of media except one. What? You're crying because you have to walk all the way to the porno store to get a damn video or magazine? It's a way where porn freaks can get their kicks without bothering the rest of us. Sounds fair, doesn't it?

Ah yeah, here come the redundant "prude" and "just look away" cards...which will just reinforce my point so don't even bother.

It's a free country for us porn-haters too, you know. Why does it always have to be your way?

See that's the thing with you PC freaks. You can't even stand up for what's right anymore without being called "judgemental". Give me a f*cking break.

Need more details. Compromise on what?
Edit:
OK got it now that you updated it. I am a red blooded guy who likes sex as much as anyone on the planet, and think that porn should be eradicated outright. Won't ever happen, constitutionally protected freedom of speech / expression blah, blah, blah.... I think it's more of a black eye on our society than it's worth. But as long as there are horny guys, an internet, Vaseline and paper towells, I guess we'll have to put up with it.
Guess I'm an old fashioned kinda guy though.

Yes you maybe right at some point but the rationale of this is to regulate pornography. For instance you dont want your kids as young as 3-5 years old watching porno instead of barney, right!? Thats why porno should be regulated.

Aside from being scandalous to public this may also corrupt the minds of kids and change their perception. X rated movies might not have the same meaning for you compare to the minds of kids below 7. Adults can manage the situation as they could actually do the same thing but kids they maybe curious but they cant definitely do it.

If you think you can handle the situation then its your choice whether to watch or read it. Its more of a personnal choice rather than deprivation.

We have Freedom of Speech. Pervs have freedom to IM children on the Internet. Porn is a $3 Billion industry where major American companies are involved via 10th level subsidiaries.

Porn existed before the Internet and IM. Porn may have overexposed itself on the Internet but they will find ways to recuperate and make money. Porn already suffered from one underage scandal with Traci Lords (who made all her movies when she was under 18).

Women attend parties where sex toys are sold like Tupperware. People are becoming like Europeans when it comes to sex but the Muslims have pretty much taken over Europe. Looks like the US will be there in 10 years or less....

I don't have a problem with porn in general but I do with kiddy porn which is all over the net. Studies have shown that kiddy porn actually contributes to child sexual abuse as it acts as a trigger for the peds.

However there are too many problems with policing the net in order to completely ban content. First who's jurisdiction is it? The net belongs to the world not just one group. Secondly it would be impossible. The structure of the net makes it where one cannot control the content. Changing the structure of the net would completely ruin it and render cyber space useless.

The best way to control it is a large scale unified crack down on child porn. This is happing as we speak. (see sources)

As far as your run of the mill elicit sex, that's not something that you can or should control. As soon as you are able to censor something you don't like (that's legal of course) your own rights are in danger of being censored by others who don't agree.

Edit: I agree that kids should not be exposed to porn. That's where the parents responsibility of regulating and monitoring their kids comes in. It's all about being responsible for ourselves and our families.

The Internet economy thrives off of pornographic sites, it won't end. You also can't police the internet for 'normal' pornographic material. Yes, there are the crackdowns on child porn and terrorists and such, but you can't relate it to something as large as the pornographic industry.

in a free society we should all be allowed to practice our own values without others passing judgement on us....either for or against anything!
