I have a much better suggestion!
Let us make all of this fair.
Let us ascertain exactly how many nationalities, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and anything else that differentiates people in America, add them all together and divide into 365.
That way it can be such and so History or Pride, erm, days all year long! We could have a calender for each one so we know which one we are celebrating and do not offend PCdom. I suppose to be truely fair the allotment of the yearly Pride/History days could be moved around randomly each year so no one group can say they got the short end of the stick.
Sorry. Had to smart off.
No, really, this is all getting silly.
Blacks have been through hell and this should be recognized. However, how many other races/ethnicities/etc have been through hell? Do they not also deserve recognition?
I would go on a hunger strike for one Rromani history day but I know the result: I would die of starvation.

i am a muslim white woman. i say everyone should be talked about every day of the year. there are many different races that have contributed something to society in this country at one point in history. there is nothing wrong with having a black history month. i would suggest every place that has people who touch america and changes it should be given a week or a day to learn about their culture. etc...... it is just ignorance to complain about people showing pride for who they are. just arrogance thats all.

Accomplishments like...peanut butter? That's what you are talking about, right?
Get over yourself. It doesn't bother 'caucasians' that 'African-Americans' have a month. Who gives a crap?
Quite honestly, I don't even notice it. I wouldn't even care about the AA month except for the fact that every time I walk by a store or turn on the radio, its all I hear about.
I for sure don't celebrate AA month, so why would it bother me that other AAers do? It would be like me being angry because other people are eating steak, when I'm just eating chicken. What does it matter, if it doesn't effect me?

If we had a white month you would be complaining. I can just see it now. It's white Caucasian history month. Everyone would complain. Or how about the month of the Jews...they went through more in history than any other race alive. It's just we sometimes get tired of it going only one way. So many blacks want special treatment. Earn it. Don't think someone owes it to you because of what your ancestors went through.

The Irish have "St.Patrick's Day"
The Hispanic have "Cinco DeMayo (pardon my spelling)
Regardless of how "Caucasians" view this, they don't have to participate in Black History month,as we don't have to wear "Green" or walk around with paper Shamrocks pinned to our clothes. We don't have to prove we are African American. Just one look distinquishes us from other races. And I am proud that I can walk down the street, and nobody has to figure out what my nationality is.
I totally agree with: RIKKAR Z
What is the world coming to,as to who celebrates what?. Are people going to stop celebrating holidays, simply because of the color of their skin? (Go Figure!)

i was just wondering why we dont hear about other races. THATS IT. and ur right ALL races should be recognized 365 days a year. every race did something good at some point and they all should be recognized for it.

Just as Samuel Jackson says...we don't need a black history month. Black's are history are 12 months of the year.
We don't need Mexican month.
We don't need Irish month.
Get the drift?
