if he knows valentines day is special to you, i think he was stubborn in his ways not to be considerate of your feelings. after all, it is a holiday if he wants to recognize it or not. if it meant nothing to either of u fine. if there was such a thing as a Camero Car holiday and u couldnt stand it but he loved it would u get him a card, gift or make some kind of "to do" about it? definately valentines day is about LOVE and both people so a bad example. or is it a bad example?

It does not have to mean anything. Maybe Valentine's Day brings back bad memories. Maybe he feels obligated to buy you something and he either does not know what to get you or maybe he does not have the money to get you something nice. Valentine's Day does not mean you have to be given something. Maybe you could just spend some quality time together and have fun instead of giving gifts.

Tell him that your'e bummed that you two missed the opportunity to have some special time together for Valentine's day and that you would like both of you to do something special for each other this coming weekend.

(This way he won't feel like you have your hand out, selfishly expecting him to throw down cash for you to celebrate a cheesy commercialized holiday.)

You cannot hint around with guys. They have to be told very directly what you expect and the sooner we ladies learn this the better off we will be! ;-) lol (It's true, though!!!!)

It means just that. Unlike girls, we don't have any underlying meaning. We say what we mean, and that's that.

I too hate Valentine's day because it is a commercial holiday, invented by Hallmark to make money. However, I still get my wife and kids things because it is fun for THEM, as they don't share my view, and I don't push it on them.

Lack of money for the "right gift". Lack of how you felt about geting one.
