Nobody owns it now, its not subdivided at all.

I may be totally wrong but I think Antarctica has been like subdivided between several interested countries. To "invade" it and try to take it would be a declaration of war against one or all of the involved nations. It probably wouldn't work out.
I suppose if a country like USA wanted to take the whole thing, we could but we're too busy right now.

no. forst they have to get some people settle down their, then claim and then attach it to their country.
