how cute!!!! so adorable...you're a true romantic, aren't you? that's awesome. ok, back to the question. if the candles let off the smoke alarm, trim the wick of the candle, but no shorter than an eighth of an inch. if you light the candle and you can see black smoke when looking at the flame at eye level, the wick is too long. cheap candles, huh? try the clearance racks at target and wal mart. or even at dollar tree or another dollar store. holiday colored candles have to go on clearance after the holiday so if you're not picky on color you'll be ok.

uh, yeah...... of course it will. nice gesture though
cheap candles, try your local hardware store or supermarket. they are generally in the laundry or electrical section
maybe try tea lights instead. you can get more that way and you wont make a mess with the wax..

Not while they're burning (if you keep the wicks trimmed), but if you blow them all out at once, perhaps yes. Maybe for this one evening you could disable the smoke alarm.
