Of course. He is far more presidential than anyone else running in a variety of ways.
You asked for specifics, and many people have offered them. But here is perhaps the most important, which has yet to be mentioned.
He is the only legitimate contender that was opposed to the disastrous War in Iraq. He gave a brilliant speech before the invasion which was right on.
In truth, no one is really ready to be President until they get there. Hell, George W. Bush practically was raised in the White House, having his father as a president. And the vast majority of the country has finally realized what a HUGE mistake it was to elect him (and twice at that, doh!)
If you just want "experience," why not just elect Biden or Cheney?
I say, no thanks, lets go with someone young, bright and intelligent that has continuously displayed outstanding judgment.

No...he justs feels he has nothing to say to her or Bill Clinton after the way they trashed him and his family! Barack has been focusing on the issues of the campaign to put forth solutions that fave Americans everyday! Hillary is desperately trying to find something negative to point out about besides the color of his skin and lack of Washington insider experience...which Hillary has for being First Lady in the White House! Bill Clinton has made reference to Obama's Black Skin and the lack of a Black American being elected president as he says they do not have what it takes to be a president, but Hillary has it....the full backing of the mahjority of "White Voters", who Bill says will never elect a "Black Man" for President of the United States...as they lack integrity and experience to be a real leader! Dr. Martin Luther King would be appalled at Hillary and Bill Clinton's treatment of Barack Obama and his lovely wife & children! As a "White American" , I am ashamed such racism has been directed toward Obama from the Clinton's! I thought the Clinton's respected everybody, but I guess that only applies to those who do not run against them in an election! How sadly mistaken is this type of behavior from a former president and his power hungry wife! Barack did not snub Hillary, he was tied up with talking with another person at the time.Good thing he was or else he would have been once again mistreated by the Clinton's!

I am a chronic moderate with a slight lean to the right in terms of the political continuum, but I am actually very positive about Barak Obama. While I think it would mean great progress in America for us to elect a black man in terms of race issues (I think that generally race issues are more heated than gender relations, and as a result, we would make more forward positive progress electing a black man rather than a white woman), I would be concerned with his ability as a leader first. As a person, I think he's very charismatic, I like it that he's open about his past drug use and that he has gone on to make something of himself, and he seems like he would work well with the Republicans. These are all qualities of a good leader. Hillary on the other hand would mean 8 more years of Bill. I realize that those years for America as a whole were generally positive, but in terms of how great of a leader was he, that's certainly debateable. The point here being that Hillary is a power hungry individual (not to say Bush is not) who specifically ran to become New York's senator (a state she's not from or has any relation whatsoever to) to spring board to the presidency in '08- something she denied all along but was secretly planning, no big surprise there. She's been calculating this all along. Obama on the other hand is selfmade man, and I like that. He didn't manipulate a spouse and a subsequent affair to get into any political spotlight. Thumbs up for Obama

Alright M C. You think you know so much, but you should really check your facts. No **** Obama is half black, and your opinion about his drug use is just that- an opinion. He is only human. It is the great part of the American hypocrisy. We want someone we can relate to, and when we have him, we chastise him for his flaws. He admitted that what he did was wrong and I'll bet you that many of those old white senators have sniffed something in their day also. I don't ever remember him blaming his drug problems on mixed race.
Secondly, Obama's wife's remark included nothing about being shot by a white man. Paranoid much? Obama said in his 60 Minutes interview Sunday that he does not believe that he has an advantage because of his race, and he believes that if he loses it will be because the people did not think him qualified, not because of his race. We are in the freaking 21st century people!!! Get over it. Sooner or later we are going to have a black president, so why don't we focus on the issues and their qualifications for the job instead of whether they can shop at 7eleven without getting shot.
Thirdly, how dare you quote Mr. King you SOB. You are a stupid *** Republican with a closed conservative mind, no matter what you want to call yourself. Have fun hanging out in hell with Bush.

Barack Obama announced on Saturday that he is indeed running for the office of President. Obama was born to a white mother and a black father and has indicated that when he was growing up he faced an internal conflict about his true identity. That is the reason he gave for his drug use as a teen. Though I believe this is a lame reason for drug use (most kids use drugs because of peer pressure and to get high) I do believe that he faced some tough problems because of his mixed race.
Something Obama said that struck me as odd was that if you look like an African-American you get treated like one. Exactly what does that mean? It would appear that Obama made it through life in relatively good shape and makes good money as a US Senator. Though I do not agree with his politics he seems like a decent man. Sure, he has had troubles along the way but show me someone who hasn’t. I would not vote for him but that does not mean he is not a worthy candidate regardless of what color he considers himself.
His wife got in on the baiting when she said she does not worry about him being targeted while on the campaign trail. According to his wife Michelle; “I don’t lose sleep over it because the realities are that… as a black man… Barack can get shot going to the gas station.” This sounds like another race baiting statement. It can be interpreted as her saying, because he is a black man he could get shot by some white guy when he is getting gas. Perhaps now is a good time to state the facts. A black man is more likely to be attacked by another black man. Blacks commit crimes against other blacks at a much higher rate than whites on black or even white on white. A little mentioned fact is that whites are more likely to be victims of crime committed by blacks.
I do not want to belabor the point about black and white because I believe there are good and bad in all colors but I think it is a tactical error for him to make such statements and for his wife to pipe in with the same nonsense. Dr. King said something about judging people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Obama should read that speech again and take those words to heart. If he wants to be President than he needs to act Presidential and not like a victim. The victim mentality is not the proper approach for anyone who wants to be President.
That also goes for anyone who thinks that women are victims so a woman should be handed the job. Demonstrate leadership and qualification for the job and leave the rhetoric at home.

By all appearances- yes. It LOOKS like he's got the "right stuff". But his lack of experience DOES trouble me... -& I hate to gamble with a vote that could affect so many lives (ESPECIALLY after what's happend these past 6 years :(. ). If H. Clinton weren't running- I'd probably take the "chance" & vote for Obama. But Hillary's a pretty sharp cookie in her own right; & she's got MORE experience than most people in govenment do. And- I've always liked her (plus she's got an awesome "wingman" to get advice from- if he can JUST stay out of mischief!). Soo...-if the race weren't so full of good candidates (for once), I'd pick Obama in a heartbeat.

Presidential is not telling us what they can do; it is someone that reminds the citizens what they can accomplish.
And we can accomplish great things. That fact of the matter is we have been lacking a Presidential leader so quite some time.
I believe O'bama's level of intelligence and honesty so outpaces that of our current President that by all means yes.

He's political, but NOT presidential. He's too young and inexperienced, as proved by his frequent foot- in- mouth gaffs. Maybe in another 16 years, he can try again...
