Customs and DOT regs are strict when it comes to importing cars. I'm looking to bring one back from Germany with me this summer, and it's not too difficult as long as the cars are 25 years or older.

Not illegal. The vehicle must be originally manufactured this way however. You may not produce right drives new for the US (including customs that were once left hand drives). Be careful of emission stipulations when importing vehicles. They are very strict!

No - we're not a silly about that in the states as some other countries. They just have to meet federal standards - which most imports should do. Be careful about the emmisions standards, though.

mail carriers in al. convert there cars to right hand side drive all the time here no law say-es u cant and paper delevery people and mail carriers do not hv. to use seat belts in al.
