first rule slow down, second rule see first rule. rear wheel drive, put on your snow tires if available. (I keep a set mounted on extra wheels, that way I only have to change the wheels) A two seated car, I place sand bags in the floor boards behind the front seat. Two fold purpose, add weight, better traction, and if I get stuck I cut one of the bags open and have sand to place under the wheels. Keep a shovel, extra clothes, blankets, fuzzes, flash light,
a water jug, radiator coolant, tow strap, ice scrapper, over shoes, a good, and long set of jumper cables. a tool kit, a roll of duct tape, fire extinguisher, and a hand full of those little packs of cheese and crackers.
Front wheel drive don`t need the extra weight. But still need some sand. Al;most for got windshield de icer.
The above is the items I keep in my car during the winter. You can make your own choices as to what rocks your boat.
The shovel, the sand, and the tow strap is the three things I use the most. And I might add 9 out of 10 times there are used to help some one did not follow rule number 1.

be sure and put a emergency kit in your car consisting of blankets, extra clothes, jumper cables, kitty litter, water, and a heater that will work off your cigarette lighter, a radio and batteries, a cell phone. But the best advice is to stay home and try to stay warm.

Best advice when driving in snow and ice is to allow plenty of space between you and other vehicles. You also need to pay attention and anticipate problems before they bite you in the salty area.
Good luck with your winter travels.

I think this is a trick question.
Al Gore, who single-handily invented the Internet, told us the planet is burning to a crisp, so the idea that cold weather or snow is occurring anywhere cannot be true.

Leave an hour early and drive safe. Let mommys, daddys, and little ones make it home safely.
