an iPod is a MP3 player which was invented by Apple Inc. headed by CEo Steve Jobs.
An iPod now comes in all five generations, but the first introduced was the Mini iPod and the 20GB iPod with no colour, but an LCD display.
An iPod can store songs, Videos[if you have a Video iPod] , Photos[Photo iPod] , and the latest versions even have Games, Contacts etc.
Podcasts are also been introduced recently.
all in all, the iPod is a device which enables you to listen to your music, on-the-go, anytime anywherere/
