Look at the serving size. Your old vitamins might have the serving be two tablets, and the new one might be just one. If this is so, you should just take 1 tablet because the new ones are twice as potent as the old ones.

I would only take one tablet! You CAN overdose on vitamins too! I use to take the vitamins that you only take one a day and now I have started taking the one that is two a day because the vitamin content his higher, but because the bottle says I can take two I KNOW it is safe to do so. No ALL the vitamins in this new prenatal I am taking are higher then the old ones. If you are REALLY worried about the folic acid, drink orange juice and eat food rich in folic acid. Same with calcium, drink milk and eat other foods that are good sources of calcuim! It would be safer then doubling up on the pills! Again you CAN OVERDOSE on VITAMINS and that would be BAD for YOU and your BABY!

take them according to the bottle, each manufacturer puts different ingredents in thier vits. Folic acid is important but if you have too much it is also dangerous, go with instructions. Calcium you can get from milk and cheese and ice cream so don't worry too much about that, folic acid is found in foods as well, but i don't remember which ones. you are seeing your doc soon enough that you have no need to worry.

Well, if the only thing that is less is the calcium, take one a day and get the chewable calcium supplements, or even eat Tums, which can help w/ heartburn :) Then you're even. I've heard of people taking flintstones vitamins because prenatals upset their stomach. Personally, I was moving around so much in my last trimester I didn't get to take mine very often, and my baby is just fine. So you should be good w/ one a day, just don't forget the calcium, it helps you out in the end :D Good luck!

Always go by the manufacturers recommended instructions.

I would worry about getting too much iron if you take two pills. Iron poisoning can be fatal. If you think you need more Calcium and folic acid until you see your doc, Calcium fortified OJ is great source.

Well I would say take what the bottle says but its your body and you have the final say in what goes in it. But in a way I doubt taking 2 pills will make much of a difference. Just one of the reasons to stay with one brand and not switch.

Take your new bottle and your old bottle to your pharmacist and explain your concerns. They will be able to help you out and explain the difference. Also when you go to the doctor take the new bottle with you and explain what the pharmacist recommended and go from there. I wouldn't sweat it.

no only take what the directions tell you to or you could cause problems with your health and your baby's health. if you want to you can call your doctor's office and ask to speak to the nurse and she will tell you for sure.
