does a name tell another person who you are or what kind of person you would be? whats with a name? just wondering btw

damn, i thought i'd get a straightforward answer from everyone. but it seems that everyones divided. i asked this question because my middle name is jay and its supposed to mean quick or something like that and im always getting scolded for being so lazy and lethargic. :P

I personally like names with meaning or a story line. Example I am named after my grandpa, Jesse. Its honorable and a story line. Example 2: My daughters name is April Harmony, which means Spring peace. Example 3 My grand daughters name is Autumn Rose, it paints a pretty picture as visual poetry, etc.
Just a thought!

You hear on Y/A alot that your child will be made by your choice of name, but I don't think so. If you teach your child the morals you want them to have, that is what makes the person, not the name you choose for them. If your name was Walt I would not automatically assume you were gonna run your own amusement park someday. ;p

I think that a name says a lot about a person. I believe that a name reflects what type of person you are or what type of person that you will turn out to be.

i think names make a person ,,,,my name is plain and unfortuanatly i am as well,, if you hear someone with a erotic name like mersadiez would you think she is hot or ugly well u know she would be hot ,,, have you ever seen an ugly bret ,no ,,,,,,,some how names do make a person who they are .. look at wendy every girl i know named wendy is strong or demanding... every cody is cool........ every patricia is sweet ok anyways u gett the point

Your name is give to you because your parents wanted you to have it and also want to be able to call you somthing.
as to it telling the world who you are that is only if you go on a vision quest and are given a new nane that is what you are.

I think it does. My meaning of my name is to unite, join together and Lily which stands for Christian faith and Easter. And I think I live up to my meaning of my name.
My Grandparent, parents, and brother's all live up to their's too.

a name is just a name, it really means nothing. some think it makes that person who they are but really it doesnt. its just a fansy lable, thats why people make such a huge deal out of what to name there kid.
