I have to say that Beejee's definition needs a bit more: AFTER you first get paid for dancing, you are ready, willing and able to KEEP getting paid for dancing.

Just because my daughter earned a bit of money when she was 15 and 16 for principal roles in a local production of Nutcracker, she would not dare to call herself a professional amongst her fellow college dance majors. She'll be ready to go pro after graduation.

Age really doesn't matter.
There's a 12 year old who's a professional dancer.
It's called popping.

at a guess eraly to mid 20`s when they graduate from a major acadamy ie the royal ballet

12 yrs old when i first recieved a pay packet for dancing, in the tower circus england

u can be even when you are 10 years old but u have to have a dance team and join a lot of concerts and join a lot of competition.youcan do it.
