There is more than one Air Force one. No matter what aircraft the President is on in the Air Force it is designated as Air Force one. A better question would be, why the number one? The number one designates the commander in chief.

It is Air Force One only if the President is on board, otherwise it has another call sign. I believe the miltary aircraft type designator for the 747 airframe is a VC20, but I am not certain. One of the Air Force types on here can probably answer that one for you.

Depends on what branch of the service is flying his plane. For example, the 747 jet he flies on is piloted by the U.S. Air Force, so that jet is Air Force One. The helicopter that flies him off the South Lawn of the White House and Camp David is piloted by the U.S. Marine Corps, so it is Marine One.
