How do I make my ATI radeon 9800 work with hd component cables?

I plug them in, but they flicker and won't work on my TV. The cables work fine on everything but my computer. Someone told me its a settings, so, how do I set it? I can't find any settings.

you would get a better picture if you hook it up though a DVI Cable. to get rid of the flicker in your screen adjust the Hz in the advanced button in the Display Properties in the settings tab 60Hz is standard
try lowering the Hz
