i really want to join the gym again...how long did you wait? when can i go back and do my running and abs workout?

Most docs and books will tell you six weeks, because regardless of stitches or surgery, your body still went through a major ordeal, and it takes it on average six weeks to get back into a healthy shape. Your body is so busy repairing itself that docs don't even recommend starting your diet those first six weeks! Which is gonna suck for me, cuz I'm gonna want to be back in my cute jeans ASAP...but if you're breastfeeding, that sould really help too...it's burning more calories without doing any work! But I feel you on this one. Talk to your doc. Maybe if you didn't have any complications he'she will let you go back sooner than six weeks...but I wouldn't do it without the greenlight from him/her...just for your own health.

Six weeks is the general rule, just to make sure everything has healed normally. Try going for light walks at first, if you feel up to it. Don't push yourself too early, though, or you'll just set yourself back further! Remember - it took you nine months to have that baby. It will probably take close to that to be completely back to the way you were before.

Talk to your doctor. They will probally tell you to wait until six weeks after the baby was born. Maybe less, if you had no stiches do to birthing complications or a C-section.

Most likely 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery, longer w/ a C-section.

i heard that you have to wait 6 weeks after the baby is born or until your doctor releases you it's up to your doctor
