I've been playing this free online game since I was about 10. It is open to those under the age of 13 WITH parents permission (there's a form you will have to mail)
In this game, you create an account and then create a pet. It forces some responsibility on the child because the child has to feed and clothe the animal or it will get sick or be in a "dying stage" (pets dont die though). They are able to buy and sell items as well teaching them about money management.
