Shooting guard

He can play both. On most teams he would be considered a shooting guard but in Phil Jackson's triangle offense there is no need for a true point guard. The triangle highlights the center, shooting guard and small forward positions. A player as talented as Kobe can be a point guard, shooting guard or small forward.

Actually he is a shooting guard but in the triangle offense there is no need for a point guard so depending on what is happening in the triangle different players take on different roles.

Shooting guard hands down. He plays MJ's role in the triangle. Nobody would have considered MJ a point guard. Argument closed.

Yessir, Nash 19 PPG 5 APG, Kobe 20 PPG 11 APG second 0.5 of the season @2012 basically reason you play that position would not advise you need to guard that position.. And gsw, the Lakers nonetheless have Nash, dont ignore that Oh yeah, i consider Thunder

He can play both but he's definitely more productive if he has a better point guard to back him up. a player like jason kidd will really fit the lakers and has a big chance of winning a championship.. jason kidd is the kind of player that phil jackson likes. a big, pass first, triple double guy who can extend the defense with his shooting range.
