thanx, i had a crappy v-day tho... and "final fantasy" is a series of games (about 15 right now i think). they did make a movie or two...actually they made two. and i wouldnt be suprised if theres a few books out there. the games are pretty good i guess but they take a long time to play and they are thick with story-line.

Final Fantasy is a very popular video game francise. It began in Japan in 1987 with the release of the original Final Fantasy. Since then, the main series arch is up to 12 games with XIII in production now and slated to be released late 2007/early 2008. Each final fantasy game is different:

Final Fantasy generally refers to the video games made by SquareSoft and then later Square-Enix when Squaresoft and Enix decided to merge together to try to make better RPGs. Currently, there are 11 Final Fantasy games in the main line (FFI-FFX, FFXII), 1 sequel (FFX-2), 1 MMORPG (FFXI), 1 Crystal Chronicle for the GC, and a bunch of other side games.
Final Fantasy can also refer to 2 movies made by Squaresoft. The first movie was Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. It was a colossal commercial failure, and pretty much put SquareSoft on the brink of bankruptcy. The second movie was Final Fantasy VII: Advent's Children. It was released straight to DVD and UMD.
