Is the world (USA particularly) better than it was in 1980, or worse?

In what ways is it better, and/or what ways is it worse?

I think so, definitely. The cars are 100 X's better, radio even is better. The Internet is fantastic, Shopping, restaurants, are beyond belief, and more available. Twice as many jobs are in existence(most married women work outside the home, many chose to do so). Cell phones, faxes, were just coming around. They were not very good. We did not have any stinking enviros in 1980, they were all Pinko, Com symps. That made 1980 relatively better. Hmm, maybe that was more in the '60's. Anyway, the present is better than the past. Different problems, different solutions required. Except for being younger, I would not like to go back to 1980,

1980 was a crummy year but I as having more fun in 1980. The world was much larger. Aids wasn't an issue, Iran Oil embargo was, manufacturing was a good living. No Internet. Disco sucked, but many states had lower drinking ages. Walmart wasn't there and many grocery stores had good unions and paid well. TV's were more expensive and few people had cable. 3 channels that went off the air at midnight. Long distance telephone calls cost a lot of money and the static was bad.
I like the technology but I think it was better living in 1980.

Worse, because terrorism has increased and so has hatred and war. not to mention diseases like aids. more countries are possesing Weapons of mass destruction, attitude of people have changed, trust of fellow humanbeeings has decreased, every body views everybody with suspiccion.Artificial life has also affected the climatic pattern which has made things worse.

It's worse back then no one worried about locking there doors we didn't worry about people paring on our kids on the net it was a different time it was much better back then

It has been getting worse since the 1960's, namely because of liberals and their 'agenda'.
