Progress is usually thought of as more and more control of the environment. It is mighty nice not to have polio, smallpox, outhouses, water hand pumped. It used to be that it required 50% of the people to grow our food. There was nobody or no time to 'watch TV'. If you got pneumonia as recently as 1930's, half of people would die. Famines thinned out people on a regular basis. Progress has allowed ordinary people in America to live like the 'Kings' old. We have our magic carpets for transportation, we can live in our own 'castles'. Given the end result of progress, maybe we can have our heaven on Earth rather than having to die for it. If you really want to feel 'the old' times, go to a Third World country and see it first hand.

No. I think we would be better off to regress back into the stone ages. Things were a lot simpler then. No such thing as an economy to worry about. You just had to make sure you didn't get stepped on by a dinosaur. But there was no green house gasses, except for dinosaur flatulance. And none of the other problems that we worry about today. So regress would be better than progress.

Progress is always a good thing................. as long as it is used for the good. There are many times though when progress is used for things such as the nuclear bomb, which is not a good benefit to the people of the world.

"Progress" in language is implicitly good, with the exception of medicine, which often speaks from the point of view of the bacteria or virus, hence "disease progression" is not positive there.
You mean of course the alteration in society as a result of new inventions.
Congestion is the biggest issue with low oil prices:
IT RISKS THE LOSS OF FOREIGN SCIENTISTS WHO LARGELY POWER U.S. RESEARCH EFFORTS AS THEIR HOME COUNTRIES ALL HAVE EXCELLENT TRANSIT INFRASTRUCTURE. The only viable solution is a highway-overpass-compatible PRT system called Hallitubes.

Progress towards what?
If you're talking about the secular progressive movement, then no thanks; I'll stay away from that.
