The dissolution of the U.S.S.R. seems the biggest in my life (1989 I believe) since I was a kid during the Cuban Missle Crisis and the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Now that I've remembered that, I can't think of anything that comes anywhere near to that in comparison.

On a personal level, the birth of my two kids in the mid 1980's is a HUGE thing for me.

And the death of my father only two years ago is very significant.

To tell you in any detail how any one of those events changed my life would require an all-night session at this here keyboard, and there may not be enough, or good enough, words in any language to describe how they changed my life. Sorry for the brevity of my answer, but the words to describe the impact each had on my life is more than my eyes and fingers could stand to tell you in this format. God Bless you.

1) 9/11 showed that religion can be a bad thing, especially when the hijackers said that they are doing it for God and declared Jihad (holy war). 2) The realization that Global Warming is real and must be addressed. If not there will be global ciaos. 3) The fact that a woman will run and possibly win the next Presidential Election. Women are less violent than men and the World needs more women in high political office.

I think the invention of aeroplane is the biggest thing in history since 1980. It has really reduced travel time. I am looking forward when they try to fly out in the space.
Second biggest thing is advent of color tv in 1982. I mean amazing what a thing...
Third best is discovery of Pepsi fountain in Bermuda in 1989. These things are lovely...
