I have a GeForce 6800 ,256mb card in my comp. I had declined to renew my warranty and then 2 months later the fan starts to go.
Do I need to buy a new card all together or can you buy a fan? If that would be cheaper. Reason i ask is that My comp is a dell and they list my card at $350. I dont have that kinda money for a good card.

You can buy a new fan as others have stated. Since you will already be replacing the fan, now would be a good time to put a new heat sink on the card as well. This product http://www.svc.com/avc-nv5-r3.html is a high quality fan and heat sink for $19.99. The fan will run quieter then your fan did when it worked correctly, and your card will run cooler. It is a very high quality fan and comes with a six year warranty. I have a similar model from Arctic Cooling on my X800 XL and it is so much quieter its amazing. When I play a graphics heavy game I don't have to hear a high pitch wine from my graphics card fan.

Directions are included in the box and are fairly simple. It merely requires a screwdriver.

You might want to buy a new card along the 7600GT line. It's about 150-200 bucks, but its good for a serious gamer on a tight budget.

I know that card is not worth that kind of money. I would go to www.newegg.com. They have reasonable prices on the card or a replacement fan. considerably cheaper than the price you mentioned

Take it into a local computer repair store and ask them to check it out and give an estimate for repairs. If the cost of repir is less than 50% of a replacement then do that.
