When my son was 3 months, he was still eating every 3 hours. The amounts varied with growth spurts.
Actually you CAN overfeed a baby, but you'll know that. If he all of a sudden starts to do some major spit up or can't finish the bottle, it's too much.
Growth spurts are amazing things though!

You might try feeding him every 4 hours instead of every 3. And some people think you CAN over feed a baby. When their little tummy gets too full, it causes them pain and this makes them want to suckle more as this is where they associate comfort. They cry, they get a bottle, and then they are happy again. Until..... That darn tummy starts hurting again. So they cry, momma gives them the bottle, they suckle and seem to feel all better for a while and then the tummy hurts again. See how that might create a small problem? Ask your doctor and see if that might be happening or not. I am just guessing about your situation and don't mean to suggest you are doing anything wrong. I hope you don't take it that way. After all, he is a growing baby and needs to eat all he can get and may just be that hungry! I'm no expert! I didn't have anyone to offer suggestions and try to help me when I was just starting out as a new Mom and learned the hard way about the over feeding issue. I just wanted to share with you something to think about. 8 ounces sounds normal, but every 3 hours seems too soon for another 8. Ask the doctor to be sure, okay? anyhow, good luck being a new Mom! Sounds like you are already doing a terrific job. Keep up the good work!

My daughter will be 3 months in a week. She's eating 5oz 6 times per day; about every 3-4 hours and about 7 hours at night.

My 3.5 month old formula feeds every 3-4 hours and takes 6.5-7.5 ounces per feeding and takes 4-5 bottles per day. He weighs 15 pounds and sleeps for 10 hours at night.

Your child will let you know when it's too much. He is going through a growth spurt. Expect another one at 6 months.

I feed mine whenever she is hungry. About 6oz every few hours..sometimes more. If your baby acts hungry - feed them.
