I think success in life is when you are happy and content in life and realize you are where you are suppose to be. Whether it is being a doctor or not having a whole lot of money but a loving family and happiness. Success can mean something totally different from one person to the next. For example my uncle has a Ph.D and is living in a really nice house and drives an infinity, not to him the is total success and thats what he believes success is. Now, to someone else they may not have that great of an education or a nice house but they have a loving family and they feel thats all they need and that is success in their eyes. Hope that made sense.

To measure success in life you must first define success. I would define success in life as the accumulation and organization of knowledge in one's own mind to best understand the universe as he/she sees fit. If you, in your mind, have no loose ends or questions in life then you have achieved full success. You can be successful without answering all of these questions, but you should never leave yourself asking why, but instead always find the answer. The more questions you try to answer, relative to the amount you ask, the more successful you are. My roommate's answer to this is, you can measure success by counting the number of peoples' lives you have made a difference in. It all depends on the person you ask.

To me, true success is when you are content. Really content with yourself and your life. When you have learned to accept yourself and others as they are and you have peace in your life. Of course, in the material world, success is how high you've climbed the corporate ladder. I've been there and it felt good to achieve a big goal in my life, but I wasn't truly content and at peace. I was happy but not really fulfilled in my life. I think success is having those things, fulfillment, acceptance & contentment in the long run.
