I've always wondered if he really talks like that at home, or if its something he puts on. Doesn't sound very natural, but I've never heard him talk any other way even out of wrestling context.

i'd agree that he "projects" his voice for dramatic effect. wrestlers were much more approachable 20 years ago... and when he wrestled in memphis in the mid and late 80's i got a chance to see him several times. after those shows several wrestlers would always be out in the lobby and on the sidewalk signing autographs and answering questions... and other things the guys these days wouldn't do without 20 bodyguards in front of them. anyways, randy was at 2 of these "sesssions" that i remember, and at one must've stood around talking for what seems like aneternity. he was taking quite a bit of flack from some because he had beaten jerry "the king" lawler, hometown hero in the main event. but he stood his ground and didn't get unwound AT ALL considering some of the comments he endured. yes, i'd say that IS his voice... but isn't as unique as u might think. the way he projects his voice for smack is just that.... entertainment. i take it you're a fan of his. you know how he kinda tilts his head to the side when he's speaking into the mic or to others while on tv? he DOES do that a little when speaking casually. that may be something he's always done, or may be habitual after playing his character for so long.

It wasnt at first but throughout the years he got stuck talking that way, same goes for most not all wrestlers from back then that either projected their voices (like savage) or yelled their promos.
My uncles buddy was in the pro-wrestling scene in the 70's and 80's and he told me when i was a youngin that it took him a while to adjust himself to not yell when he spoke in public. even though i am sure it mustve been great to be an employee of his and he turns all pro wrestler during an employee meeting. Peace Brrrrothah !!!

Yeah it's his real voice. I live in Maryland and WCW was in town during the baseball season, and the Orioles had Macho Man in the play by play booth for about an inning or two
