I haven't seen any election where it isn't even a year before the first primary where presidential candidates enter the race or the media talk about it.

1. The candidates need more money than before, causing them to start earlier than before, leading to earlier coverage.
2. Bush has been office for one and a half terms. And doesn't have high approval ratings, so people are looking at the future.
3. The Vice Pres isn't running. It's going to be a competitive race.
4. Bush is able to do much with a Democratic congress.
5. Iraq is bad and is getting worse. The people want to get out. Only pres contenders are talking about a way out.
6. Obama is very charismatic.

Cause its a huge election. The election will determine the fate in Iraq. Simply put. And the media are tired of whining about how much we're failing in Iraq so now they have a new topic.

i'm hoping for #a million! i'm wondering that he will finally end up operating as an self sufficient and we would have an similar difficulty to at the same time as Ross Perot ran. it is critical as applicants like Giuliani, Clinton, Obama are not any further going to fix what fairly needs fixing! they are area of this political monster that has sucked the existence out of our u . s .! it's time to scale the potential in Washington again and go back it to the states the position it belongs!
