Instead of "proper" English,
you should have reworded it
"understandable" English.
Why they talk the way they do,

This question has been asked several times....I'm going to tell you what I told the other guy.... there is no such thing as proper (adjective) English... What you meant to say, but are too ignorant to understand "homie" is that English is spoken properly(adverb)... In much the same way that you can NOT speak GOOD English, but can Speak it WELL...Keep up now.... You just embarrassed yourself "dawg".... So next time don't come up in my house trying to front "word" until you can get your sh1t together and apply what you Should have learned before you flunked out of the "fif" grade "know what I'm sayin"...

I think it goes back to when they really tried and tried hard to speak correctly but never really got it right. So they started with some of their own ways to say words like "ask" and missing "r's" until it evolved into this in comprehensible babble that you are speaking of now.

Sorry to tell you this but the only people that speak proper english are from Britain, so it's not only the black people that don't speak proper english... But you are right they do need to learn how to speak proper North American english...

I guess thy do it for the same reason they do everything else...
that being so white kids can emulate them. It's kind of funny watching whites pretend that they are more black than real blacks.
