I know what you mean. I mean, in the real world, you don't get homework from your job. Why should kids have to sacrifice their spare time for more schoolwork? It won't prep them for the real world much. I would totally hate if jobs started giving their employees work to do when they get home.

No I personally do not believe this is true because when I was 15 I had a part time job and was in 2 school clubs and marching band. This meant I had to be aware of my time and make sure I got all my homework done in the free times I had and I also had honors classes. The latest I would get to bed would be 930-1000, except for Friday nights, so if they just use time wisely they won't be up late with homework, and if they are maybe they are struggling with a class. Again, homework is not bad for kids under the age of 18.

I don't think that homework is bad for kids. In fact I think it helps reinforce what was learned during the school day. However, I do think that the quantity of homework given out at some schools is unhealthy. Kids need to be able to relax, play sports, and do other after school activities when the school day is over. When you have all that work and pressure at such a young age, by the time you get to high school or college, you're just burned out. This was a really interesting question by the way!

The rule of thumb is about 10 minutes times the student's grade. Homework that is excessive can be bad for kids--a series of problems over and over and over again for the sake of repetition is not helpful. However, homework that makes you think or that gives you a little bit more practice on something that you're having trouble with or is new to you is a good thing. Homework does not stop once you're out of school, unlike what most school-aged students think... that is, unless maybe if you work a blue-collared job or if you're minimum waged. For instance, I am a graphic artist. My job isn't nine to five, not even eight to five--I have research that I must do to satisfy my clients. Lawyers, doctors, teachers, businessmen, and pretty much most of the workforce, have some form of "homework." Most workers have to do something extra to keep up with their trade, and that's kind of like homework. Even if you're not working on something related to "work" when you're at home, there are other examples such as figuring out your budget, taxes, bills, etc. The best thing to do is to develop good study habits, take small breaks when you're working long hours, and DON'T PROCRASTINATE! (I have to say that one, because that's the one that even I have a problem with at times!) Well, I'm off to go do some more research now....

tv is bad for everyone. teacher/student/kids too young to be students

10 hours of homework can make you go crazy... but adversity is always healthy

homework is often the only thing that makes your brain remember how to do the work so you dont forget ......... it stretches your brain and helps you become a productive member of society in the long run.

Wow.... I'm compelled to know why it's bad to teach children, make them work hard, earn things, and become proud of theirselves for being successful.

Please, enlighten me.

And honey, don't tell me that you don't get homework at your job. If you have a real job (that's any job that you will work more than 40 hours a week at), you will always bring work home with you. I get to work on employee reviews, schedules, read resumes, and schedule training for new hires when I'm not at work because I'm too busy at work doing other things than to get that other stuff finished.

Definetely not. kids have to learn their daily lessons and homework would help them practise those. It is definitely good for them. but they shouldn't find it as a burden that is teachers have to give minimal homework

It is if it consumes ones life. Other wise, it can be a good example to set for the future. A lot of people do work from home.
