The way I figure it is that they're delivering the food to you and that is considered a service, so I usually tip them 50 cents or something.

I normally do leave something. It's not as much as if I go to a "sit-down" restaurant and am served by a waiter/waitress. Usually, it's 50 cents, or maybe $1.
Tipping is for good service. Actually, the word tip originated from an acronym (To Improve Performance). Generally, I always tip in a restaurant. It usually ranges from 15 to 20 percent. However, there have been a couple of times when the waitress, through a combination of problems, (didn't get the order right; was rude, etc), that I have failed to leave a tip. Of course, if the service was bad enough, those were the restaurants we didn't go back to.

Not really, they aren't really waitresses, they don't get paid like waitress either, I'm not sure if they get paid minimum or not. But the only thing they do is bring out food for you. They are Carhops, that's actually their job. My friend worked at Sonic and she said that they didn't really deserve a tip. I never give them a tip. They don't deserve one. If your generous enough then go for it, but it's not a requirement.

definite! I used to artwork there and the carhops artwork OFF OF training! If somebody is serving you you always tip them. you do no longer tip interior the force via WINDOW at Sonic, yet whilst this is a drivethru the place they pop out the door and serve then you definite, you do tip. ktdidnc, i do no longer comprehend the place they pay the version to minimum salary for lost training yet they did no longer do this here. there have been situations the place it grew to become into purely in basic terms a foul day on training and that i went domicile with in basic terms some money in my pocket. So please undergo in recommendations that some carhops have not got that luxery, like me, and are attempting our maximum suitable to be a good server purely to get good training and pay the expenditures.

I feel that if you are eating at a restaurant where you tip that you should tip. Most of those servers can only get part-time jobs to help them get through college or can only work part-time. There are some countries that never tip their servers and it is not expected because the restaurants charge you more (to cover your tip) for your servers.

No, I never leave tips at fast-food chain restaurants. It is not because I am rude, it is because they do get paid the minimum wage. You do leave a tip to waiters in a restaurant because they usually get paid half the wage and depend more on the tips.

I don't work at Sonics, But I think people should leave them tips because they actually serve the food to you.
Leave a bigger tip if they fall with their roller skates on....thats the greatest! haha

If they bring the food to you, it's a good idea. I usually give them a buck if it's a meal for a couple of people. If it's just a few drinks, I just tell them to keep the change.
Nothing for going through the drive-thru though.

It's fast food. They make at least minimum wage so no. Tips are meant for waitresses and other people that do not make minimum wage so there tips supplement there salary.
