You can simply use crayons on newsprint or pellon (available at fabric supply stores). You can take a bunch of different color crayons, remove the paper wrapper, melt them down to form a disk shape. These work great. Charcoal really isn't the best to use as it doesn't adhere to the paper, smudges easily and you can lose some of the rubbing. Crayon is very good.

You don't ever want to rub a grave stone. Just clean it off with a spray bottle of water and take a digital photo.

you don't need a kit, any craft store or art suppy store carries charcoal in many different forms. All you really need is charcoal and paper. I suggest compressed charcoal or graphite.

Crayola crayons would work fine for this purpose, and no worry about smudging.

I like Mark B's answer. My favorite hobby store is Hobby Lobby, they have EVERYTHING.
