The real reason is because the media is Jewish. Newspapers, music labels, television. Jewish people routinely change their names to sound protestant so they can blend in, -Natalie Portman, nee Hershlag, -chosen by Spielberg, while espousing their agenda. Historically, the Jews main competion comes from protestant Whites. They have a formula of playing both ends against the middle. Meaning Blacks and Jews form an alliance against the larger, stronger White community.

Why is it important what race or ethnicity or religion that person is? If you discovered, that Alexander Graham Bell was Jewish, would you decide not to use the telephone? Would you go back to candles if Edison happened to be Black? I really don't understand the point of this question.

It may be due to make up for the litany of accomplishments that US history books intentionally left out. That being said, I think the time has come to stop making these distinctions.
Charles Drew (black USA) invented the technique to separate whole blood and blood plasma. Ironically he died by bleeding to death because they would not admit him into a "whites only" hospital emergency room.
US history tend to leave minority accomplishments out. Even though a minority in the past had to be incredible to succeed given an entire nation stood against him or her from the day he/she was born. It isn't that way anymore.
