I'm using a Linksys wireless-B router in my house. I bought a laptop today, and when I went to connect it to my wireless network, it showed up as "not secure" and it connected without a password!

How can I find out if anybody else is connected through my router, and also- how can I set up a password so nobody else will be able to access it. And finally, is there a huge difference between wireless-b and wireless-g? Thanks!

I think you click your network connections and it will show other computers on your network. If, you not want people getting in you should set up the Hexadecimal configurations. The instructions come with your router. Make sure you enter the codes into any wireless computers you have or they can not log in.
Write what you enter down too, usually it a bunch of letters and number you not going to remember. I think mine will take as many as 5 different codes, it can get complicated for someone to get in then.

Wireless g is used by computer cards generally, while b is used by smaller things like a pda. Routers can generally do both, and if there is an option you would generally set it to g. To setup a password you would use the instuctions provided with router. You will probly have to use a wired computer and type 192.168.0.1 into address bar of web browser. There are ways to see if someone else is using router, but only while they are doing so and you probly have better things to do than sit there all day watching lol, so just make password, or share without a care :)

Wireless g is 54Mbps and wireless b is 11Mbps.

by checking the current number of MAC addresses that show up in the "client list" on your AP..

RTFM on the setting up the password..
better that you learn how to do it correctly...
