My mother in-law has been an actor for years. She's never done anything famous, although she runs around with some folks in the business in Hollywood. Let me just tell you that while she is a great actress -- not that I ever cared for her work, this is not something she does for a living. She's a psychologist. I acting were her sole means of support, she'd starve. As it is, she has a beautiful house overlooking the ocean and she doesn't worry (excessively) about her bills.
Education, Samuel L. Jackson wishes that everyone aspiring to be, would go to school and study acting. My recommendation is to read everything you can lay hands on. Be extremely well read. Read Shakespeare, Faulkner, read Steinbeck and Bradstreet. Get voice lessons and learn to sing. Study piano and learn to read music and maybe play an instrument or two. Take dance lessons. And finally, take acting lessons. Be versatile. During the summer months, audition for whatever part comes up at your local theater. And if you don't get picked for a part, volunteer to help with stage, sound, lighting and making sets and backgrounds. If it's possible, take a few evening classes at your local community college. Immerse and apply yourself. Break a leg.

Def depends on what type of acting, how hard you work at it, and how bad you want it. It could be average or you could make millions.

There are a lot of universities that offer theatre and acting programs which would probably be your best bet. There are also many acting schools but some are more reputable than others. IF you had the means to go to NYU or UCLA or any university, it would be best! Good Luck

ofcourse it depends on what role you get. you can't learn how to act. acting is a talent. if you know you have the talent you can work on your "craft" with different acting techniques. which basically help you warm up and help you to get to know the character that you are going to play.
