School admins pay?

Does anyone know if a school administrator is usually on a 10 month pay schedule with taking it over 12 month option, or a 12 month pay schedule. My husband is a teacher and I know they are on 10 month pay schedules with an option to spread it over 12 months, but he just got hired as a VP for a different district and forgot to ask. I'm wondering because he'll be starting March 1st, and it makes a difference in if he gets paid for this summer since he's starting in the middle of the year. We live in California. Thank you

Administrators work year round, so the pay would be spread over 12 months.
