It doesnt matter what position I am in, if im sitting standing or laying down.. it hurts I dont know what can be causing this... when i pressure down on it to massage it, it stings even more.. what can be the cause? I dont think that my baby is big enough to be pressing on my ribs(its on the lower left part of my rib cage). Im only 20wks can she be in the wrong position and causing this or what?

this rib pain is located in the front not my back... does that make a difference?

no matter what you say people, and by people I mean doctors, will say it is normal. So though you may have not experienced it yet the most bizarre things can happen to you and your doc will say well that is normal, or yes some women do pee fluorescent green, etc.

In this case you are probably feeling added pressure on your latisimus dorsi. That is the muscle that inserts on your back. As your stomach muscles start to spread because of the growing baby it puts more pressure on all parts of your body.

You may want to think about back rubs. And even if I am wrong you do get a back rub :)

To your addition- the muscle is huge it inserts in your back but it comes all the way around your torso I will place a link. this pressure can stress the muscle and cause discomfort anywhere along the muscle.

I'm 25.5 weeks with my fourth and in this pregnancy and my last one (both girls, after 2 boys) I experienced this pain also. At first I thought it was the baby pushing on my ribs and now I realize it is my skin stretching! It usually does it at the end of the day, and in the mornings it is always itchy. When I go to bed I make sure I empty my bladder (so I am less full) and rest on my side, almost on my tummy to keep the skin from having to stretch so much. Try that and see if it helps. Also, I had pain from what REALLY was the baby pushing on my ribs and that seems to have a more lasting effect and is more painful and less 'stingy'. Good luck!

I had the same thing going on about that time.It lasted til I was about 24-25 wks and finally went away.So hopefully yours will too.I think that it was maybe the babys boney little limbs pushing but then she started filling out which made for some cushioning.Congrats!!

yes i had a similar thing, as someone else said, it may not be the ribs but the muscles nearby. the best thing i found, which i have recommended on Answers many times, was a product called tissue salts, it is magnesium phosphate, available from health food stores, acts as a muscle relaxant. A naturopath recommended it to me and it is totally safe during pregnancy. it was fantastic for me so it may work for you too.... good luck, i know it is horrible....

It is normal, I had this and it hurt so bad that I cried. The doctor told me that my ribs were inflamed by the fact that my uterus was growing and that it would go away in time and to take tylonel for the pain.

You may have sclerosis but if the pain came after the baby started growing, then its perfectly normal.

yes it is normal the baby is growing and pushing on them, it will be over soon, then that precious baby will be in your arms and you'll forget it all
