Actually, a great number of cichlids are generally peaceful - meaning they are not mean spirited or evil, just territorial.
If a tank is big enough, many cichlids will co-exist with a wide range of species, but there must be room for the cichlids to have their own territory and the other fish to have room to live around it. It also helps if tankmates don't occupy the same living space as the cichlids. African rift lake cichlids should always be kept in tanks catored to them, they generally have specific needs and behaviours that are unique.
Keyhole cichlds are the only cichlid that can really be described as peaceful. They can live with most community fish, but should still be kept in at least a 30 gallon tank for proper territory requirements.
Rams and Severums are also very tolerant of tankmates, the former for smaller tanks, the latter for larger.
Geophagus is pretty peaceful, but should still be kept as the sole bottom dweller in any given tank.
Kribs, despite popular and misguided belief, are very territorial and can be quite tough for their size. They should only be considered with other fish if it is a larger tank of 30 gallons or more.
Angel fish are the most popular 'peaceful' cichlid, and will generally ignore any fish too big to be considered food. Again, keeping in mind territory requirements.

The only answer is there are no peaceful Malawi Peacocks or Haps They are just like people Just when you think a Ruby Red is Mild he kills all his females in a breeder set up
To try to pin down peaceful is a waste of time, The only Cichlid I have come across that I would call peaceful is the Yellow Lab and the Fontosa but you drop a second male yellow lab in the same tank as an established yellow lab and look at there could be immediate fireworks
The only way to answer the question in my experience and 15 Aquariums full of Malawi Cichlids is more fish the better your chance at peace and even then its a daily watch to see if a Bully appears. Its just like people!

There isnt many,i think the most peaceful are keyhole cichlid and butterfly chichlids, rams are also peaceful but a little delicate, kribs are okay in a biggish tank, male and female, two males wont tolerate each other, but kribs are very territorial when they have spawned, they turn into the devil incarnate.I can tell you which ones to not consider, blue acaras unless you have a species tank, then they are fine, stunning fish though, green terrors are very apptly named, similar to the blue acara lookswise, but green, and combat cichlids, very prolific breeders, extremely territorial and a nightmare to get rid of.I would go with the butterfly and keyhole cichlids, you can also keep these in a community tank, hope this helped.

Any of the eartheater (geophagus) cichlids grow to a good size and are still pretty peaceable but may cost more than you want to pay. Firemouth cichlids can work out well in larger community tanks, but only get one as two males fight and a pair will spawn and attack the other fish to defned their young. Be warned firemouths will prey on any young swordtails that may be born. In my experience any of the gouramis (except the enormous giant gourami of course), such as blue, gold, opaline, moonlight, pearl, and snakeskin gouramis (which get a bit bigger than others, 9 inches), do well in medium-sized community tanks and can grow to 7 inches. Angelfish grow pretty big but only get one for the same reasons as the firemouth. Featherfin synodontis catfish grow 9 inches long but are peaceful and very striking fish. A 1 inch, insignificant juvenile will be 5 inches long in 6 months and full grown in a year. Paradise fish grow 5 inches and do well with medium sized fishes, but can be aggressive so be careful with smaller tankmates. Sailfin mollies are peaceful but require a bit of salt in their water. Rainbow (not red-tailed, too mean) sharks grow 7 inches long and are peaceful enough. Bala sharks get over a foot long but are very peaceful fish. Fire eels. Red Parrot Cichlid. Pictus catfish. You have a lot of choices, but don't pick too many. Obviously don't get all of these fish, just pick a couple.

That's a really impossible oder for a yahoo answers post. Generally speaking most of the smaller south american cichlids are quite peaceful so you might google for South American Cichlids and start there. There are African Cichlids tht are peaceful as well so don't completely leave that group out.

Its a myth that all cichlids are aggressive. My fish book suggests that aedquidens maroni, cichlasome bimaculatum, c. crassa, geophagus steindachneri, nannacara anomala, pterophyllum, symphysodon (americans), pelicachromis pulcher, les ahli, annectens, broadzulu, moori (africans) and etroplus (asian) are all peaceful species.
As long as your tank is big enough and you keep fish of similar sizes, there are others that are also suitable.
I'd recommend the geophagus. My boyfriend has one, it's very good at keeping the tank clean as it eats the sediment and then spits it back out, all clean! Fun to watch

Try some giant danios. I added 6 of them to my 55 and they get along well with my zebras, neons and bloodfins. They come in regular color, grey/blue and golden/albino.
