Yes. The Wii has about 512 MB of internal storage. If this is starting to run low, you can copy some of the content to a SD card.
The Wii itself doesn't charge for the access to the internet. As long as you provide a broadband connection (that you pay your ISP for, like for example AOL or similar), there are no further costs for the services offered by the Wii.
However, if you buy something in the Shop channel (an old Virtual console game for example), the transaction of buying something costs you prepaid Wii Points.
So, all in all, feel free to update your console via the Internet, watch news in the News channel, check the weather in the Weather channel or vote for your opinion in the newly released "Everybody Votes" channel. All free of charge.

The Nintendo Wii has 512 MB (0.5 GB) of internal memory, but it can be expanded to the amount you like by adding an SD card (which can be any brand you like).
In addition, The Wii's online services are FREE, but you have to provide your own ISP & you'll have to pay for any Virtual Console games you want (using Wii points, which you can buy at practically any store).
You can usually find this data at http://www.wii.com or at http://wii.nintendo.com

You have 512mb of free storage on your Wii. You are able to put Save Files, VC Games and Wii Channels with your free space, which is MUCH more than what you could have with the GameCube.
Also, for about 30-70$ you can expand your memory with an SD Card. And, I've heard rumors, that with an SD Card, you could place save files on your computer to store. I've never actually tried, since I don't have an SD Card.

The wii does come with a nice amount of memory and i believe you can add a memory card if you want. i am not a heavy gamer, but i think it would take me a while to fill up the memory it comes with.
also, it does have internet and it doesn't cost money. there is a free internet browser, online shop, and a few other internet "channels" as well as messaging between wii's.
