i think they are not just choosing them by there voice, they are also judging base on the attitude they like down to earth contestant & i notice that the one who is too confident that they will gonna win and make to the finals are in fact the one who didn't made on the top24.
and i agree that the male on the last two who's not choosen is better than the guy they picked! but he have the attitude issue that's why he didn't made it and same as the last 2 girls that not picked as well...

this time last year, I had already picked out Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee! I was right on the money with those! But this year, I'm not seeing anyone that really stands out like that. Everyone is good in their own way, but I just can't pick a favorite. I end up sort of picking based on personality, because I think at this point, they all have good voices. So I kinda like Lakisha, she seems genuine. And I like that one funny-looking bigger dude with the curly hair. He doesn't have the look, but he can sing. I like Sanjaya's personality. It was so sweet how he really was wanting his sister to stay in.

I think the judges need to get a reality check. Especially on the last two, both guys and girls. They emphasize the contestants remembering the words, and the last girl that they let through forgot hers, and in my opinion, didn't sing as well as the other girl. And for the last two guys, I think Thomas was much better than Sundance. Then, Sundance kind of condescendingly told him, if and when I make it, you can be my bodyguard. Part of Sundance's tryouts sounded like my cat if I accidentally step on her tail.
Bottom line, I think the judges listen to way too many at a time, and then, regardless of their notes, don't remember as well later on who sounded better than whom.
I think my favorite so far is, I think his name is Chris, who has the curly hair. He sounds great.

I enjoyed it ,all though not as good as last year, hopefully
they will all improve and put on a good performance next week
some have good voices they need to really work harder
to make it.
The other guy with sundance was to sure of
himself i am glad he didn't make it .
he had a good voice but a lousy personality
he didn't even want to shake sundance hand
before meeting the judges ..

I don't think Sundance should have gone through. The other guy was much better. And so far my favorites are the guy who beat boxes and the crazy guy who looks like Jack Osbourne.

I love the guy with the really curly hair, Chris I think is his name, I liked him from his first audition, I think that Sinjaya got worse, it sucked that his sister did not make it. And I as surprised that they picked Sundance over that other guy at the end.
