Let the spouse that is tired sleep and then you leave the room and watch tv to unwind and then when you are done watching tv shut it off and go to bed with your spouse and sleep. this is a great way to resolve it and still end up sleeping in the same bed:) Headphones are a great idea too and also the one spouse could always wear earplugs so they would not hear it.

The one who needs the sleep to function should get the bed! The other will have to learn to watch tv like a normal human, on the couch or in a chair. Maybe a reclining chair if they have to be laying down to unwind. Or lay on the couch.

#1 Well, beds are for two things. TV is #3. Let the one sleep, and let the other watch TV, but turn the sound off.
#2 The one who needs to sleep goes to bed sooner than the one who watches Tv.
#3 TV in another room.
#4 seperate rooms

Give the one that needs the TV the bed. Give the one that needs the bed the TV. Then both will strive and work hard to earn enough to buy the TV and the other the bed, and in the process concentrate on their work and not continue to be immersed in the unhappy past.

Well, the one who needs sleep gets the priority. There's no question about that. If the other one needs to watch TV so badly, they can watch it on the couch. If the one who needs the sleep thinks that they can do it with an eye mask and earplugs, then maybe you can try that. If not, the one that needs to "unwind" should suck it up.

Separate bedrooms.....OR tv only in the living room, not in the bedroom....
However, I dont understand, needing sleep when other needs to unwind at the end of a work day. Do you work different shifts???

Sleep therapists agree only two things should be done in bed: sleep and sex. Get rid of the bedroom TV. The television addict should go to the living room, den, or wherever else the TV may be outside the bedroom.

that's a tough one. it's a bit of a split decision because on one hand, the sleeper deserves a bed, and perhaps the one that needs to unwind should read a book or invest in a portable video game system or second television. on the other hand if the television is only in one room, than what can the sleeper expect? maybe the sleeper should park themselves on the couch or you two could invest in a pullout couch or futon?

sounds like the tv watcher is the inconsiderate one.. The primary function of a bedroom is for sleep. If a tv with headphones still doesn't let you sleep the tv watcher should watch it, where it belongs, the family room.

move the t.v. into another room. the one who works hard and needs the sleep gets the quiet room and the bed. that's what a bedroom is for.
