is it possible to have contractions and not really feel them. I'am 39 weeks pg and for a while was having back contractions but also my stomic will get all hard but I wont feel them really at all I do feel pelvic pressure and pressure in my vag*** wall and also pain in my inner thighs. My son is down in that postion and last friday I was 1cm 1/2 dilated. I have had lately some indesgtion and some nausa . Is this still early labor or is this false labor. This is my first child and I have heard from someone that they didnt feel much pain only in there back untill there water broke.

Does the tightening in your stomach come and go? Can you time it? Remember that some women's water doesn't break until they deliver - it is not always a reliable sign of labor.

Yes! They are called silent contractions. And they can trigger labor. Make sure you feel your stomach to keep track of how far apart they are. With you being 39 weeks along, that is not early labor since you would be considered term. And just a note real fast, if you are having at least 5 contractions an hour and go to your doctor and find out you are at least 4 centimeters dilated, they will keep you because you're about to have a baby! Most likely if they are not happening to often, then it is the braxton hicks, which are just a pain in the butt especially when you are this close, but if this does turn out to be just braxton hicks, just think that in about 2-3 weeks, you will for sure be a new mom! I am sorry I couldn't provide more information for you, but I hope what I could was of help to you. Congratulations!!

That was exactly how I felt for my son's, until the next morning then the pain came. But still, I didn't have any meds until I was like 24 hours into labor when I was finally admitted. I did a lot of walking the day before I gave birth and I had the same feeling. I had indigestion, stomach would get hard. I would say if you don't start to get real pain by tomorrow morning, I would call the doctor.

Every pregnacy is different. The key is to time the "contractions".

When I went into labor with my first child, I was giggling and saying "I think I am in labor". (My tummy was getting hard as a rock every 7 minutes but it didn't hurt). The nurse said, "Honey if you were in labor, you would know it" (meaning the pain would be intense). But they had to check me anyways....and when they did, I was already half way there at 5 cm.

You could be having the braxton hicks.....but only your Doctor will know.Just time the contractions and see if they are getting closer. If they are getting closer, go right away and get checked. Good luck and congradulations!

whenever i was in labor i was laughing and everything...i didnt feel my contractions for like 3 hours and i was in my 2nd stage for like 7 hours...i also had back labor which almost killed me!! It hurt so much worst then the contractions i had in my stomach. i also had pain in my inner thighs but they said it was the way my daughter was laying and it was putting pressure on my right leg...and i agree that the pain hurt alot worst in my back after my water broke
