all people living in either squatters' areas or titled areas can survive if they do hardwork.

It doesn't matter where you live when you aim for survival. What matters most is how you deal with this difficult life.

Not all in the squatters area are living poor. Many of them still can afford to eat grow-glow-and go foods...hhehehheheh. I mean majority of these people still lives above the poverty level. You know, cost of living in cities becomes higher and higher that these people are used to live in a practical way. Though there are some who really can hardly afford to eat 3x a day but this is just a very few percentage to the general populace in the country. Do you not wonder why malls are sprouting in every corner of the entrire Philippines? Do you have neighbors brought to the hospital due to famine? What makes the Philippines' one of the happiest people in the world? Is this a maifestation of a poor country? Beggars are everywhere...lazy people are everywhere. The Philippines is a blessed country...

Its an overcrowded country. People survive in whatever way they can. In USA and other developed countries people buy or rent houses that were built with borrowed money. Everybody needs credit to live day to day. In Philippines where everybody pays cash for everything or do without, obviously they can't just "buy" a house any more than the average american could do that. There is no system in Phils for mortgages and real estate development loans and such like that. Thos developments around Manila and Cebu are mostly geared for the foreigner who comes there with cash to buy a house. The average filipino cannot compete with those prices in buying a house. In philippines when you mention installment loans, they think in terms of "half now, half next month". Not much in the financial arena regarding a 15, 20, or 30 year mortgage to buy a decent house. As long as foreigners keep showing up there with $100,000 and $200,000 in cash buying up houses, the filipino will never be able to jump in on that situation. Only few are getting filthy rich from that and guess what?.....they're not sharing any of that with their fellow countrymen in any way.

you mean people in the squatter's area. Well i think they are surviving...that's why they're still there. Some take advantage by renting out their claimed spaces/territories.
The nearest informal settlement here are in fact rich, i mean they can afford to have state-of-the-art cell phones...cause some are actually working and earning an honest wage. They just don't have their own legal property.

Did you know that there are people living in squatters areas that have cellphones?

A lot of them have jobs. They either couldn't afford their own house, they are saving for one or they just do not want to leave because of some other reason.

They just do. And believe it or not, they eat garbage food which they scavenge from trash cans. They're not the only people who do that I think, most people in India and Mexico suffer the same degree of poverty and filth.
