I'm a cross-country runner myself, and I think you'd do perfect in the 200, 400, or 800. they're mid distance, and perfect for you if you can hold a pretty fast pace for anywhere from a half-lap to 2 laps on a standard 400m track. however, if you're really really good at short distance, go for the 100. its short, as i said, but its easy to win if you have good form and a lot of confidence.

I definitely like the mile best (I also run either the 2 mile, or the 800m, depending on what coach wants.) The mile is long enough that I don't feel like I'm sprinting, like I do in the 800m; also, I've got the mile memorized; I know exactly when to drive for the finish, when to kick it in, who will be going out extremely fast...I've just got the race memorized. The 800m...I used to think it was my favorite, but coach hasn't let me run it at all this year; instead, he's made me run the 2 mile. I run xc, so it's not like it's long for me; it's just got a whole other strategy, and 8 laps on a track is really long! I like watching pole vaulting too; if I wasn't so tall (5ft 11in) I'd probably give it a try. However, being so tall and being a naturally clumsy person, I have a feeling that trying pole vaulting might end with me in the emergency room. Oh well. :)

Thee 400 or anything higher, theres nowhere to go in sprinting if you arent an african american specimen of an athlete, the 400 a longer distane sprint, it more a race of wits, its a better race and you could condition and get good at it.

1500 meters, 5000 M, 10000 meters races also you might consider the TRIATHLON (swim, bike, and run) also at your age I would consider shot put or javelin
