The famous African American female inventor Marie Brown is credited with the invention of the first video security system.
Marie was born on October 30, 1922 and she lived in Queens, New York. In 1966 she and Albert Brown applied for an invention patent for a closed circuit television security system. This system had a set of 4 peep holes and a motorized camera that could slide up and down to look into each of them. In addition to being able to see who was at the door, a resident could unlatch the door by remote control.
